Georgia Heritage Day
New Date March 29th!
Our annual 8th grade GA Heritage Day is in need of volunteers. Even if your child
is not in 8th grade, they will be eventually! This is a great opportunity to help guide the 8th graders through different stations that will teach them about Georgia's past. Everything from
making fried apple pies to pottery making to square dancing! It's a fun and educational day for everyone! But it won't happen without your help! If you have any questions, email
Suzanne Simonson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
CMS Organic Learn and Serve Garden
Look for after-school work days each month. February work day to be announced soon. (Date is dependent on weather)
Coming to the café in early February: hardy winter greens including lettuces, kale and collards. We see that our onions and garlic are looking good and some deep purple beet leaves are popping up. We haven’t seen a carrot yet, but as always, Mr. Mize is hopeful. Fall wrap-up: we had an eventful fall with a successful butter bean sampling in the café with most students liking butter beans and wanting to try them again!
We awarded some beautiful artisan pumpkins by way of a first-ever raffle exclusively executed on the CMS ipads (thank you Jodi Moskowitz) to Mrs. Beth Miller and 6th grader Kathryn Ferris.
We also delivered two pumpkins to Fulton County School’s Operation folks: Patrick Burke and Doug Carey and thanked them for all of their hard work on the upcoming CMS rebuild.
We thanked the teachers and the bus drivers with gifts of fresh sage before Thanksgiving. Kudos to the 7th grade God’s Girls in helping to prepare. We served fresh jalapenos in the café on nacho day in October and November. Thanks to Jean Winkles and staff for working with the garden to make our farm-to-school program possible!
CMS Organic Learn and Serve Garden welcomes students, clubs, families to plant, weed, harvest and deliver produce to North Fulton Charities, CMS cafeteria and Huskies Helping Huskies. The year to date total delivery to NFCC is more than 640 pounds of produce. Contact Anne Fallon email@example.com c/201-776-8451or Rebecca Meyer firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you to our own Klass Family, owners of Southern Sprinkler for donating and installing an irrigation system. We still have to drag the hose 150’ but the sprinklers are AWESOME!
